Without a reflector, you are visible to a driver only 25 to 30 meters away. However, when you use a reflector, your visibility increases to 140 meters, even with the car's low beam headlights on. This extended visibility translates into a driver's reaction time of 10 seconds rather than just 2, which can be the difference between life and death.
Made in Norway, Rotary pedestrian safety reflectors are CE certified, require no batteries, and can enhance your visibility to 140 meters when used correctly.
It’s that time of year again when dark, rainy nights make it challenging for motorists to see pedestrians. Even when drivers exercise caution, poor visibility can hinder their ability to spot pedestrians. Additionally, fall fashion typically features dark colours, which doesn’t help.
Over the past five years in the Lower Mainland, an average of 1,800 pedestrians have been injured and 34 have been killed each year. Nearly half of all pedestrian accidents occur between October and January, and many of these incidents are avoidable.
Using pedestrian safety reflectors is a proven, simple, and cost-effective way to enhance visibility and stay safe. By attaching small, double-sided prism reflectors to your jacket pockets, purse, backpack, or even your dog’s collar, you can increase your visibility and help drivers see you from a distance. This added visibility gives drivers precious extra seconds to notice you and react.

Between October 16th and November 8th, the Rotary Club of North Vancouver will distribute pedestrian safety reflectors by donation at various locations throughout North Vancouver on weekends. The funds raised will support a parallel pedestrian safety awareness social media campaign and various North Shore Rotary projects throughout the year, with a focus on youth and strengthening our local community.
The Rotary pedestrian safety reflectors, manufactured in Norway, comply with European safety standards. They do not require batteries and can make you visible from up to 500 feet away if used correctly. For the best results, it is recommended to use reflectors that dangle and move while you walk, and to use two reflectors so you can be seen from all sides. A suggested donation is $5.00 for two reflectors.

**Recommended Use:**
Hang the reflector at knee height, allowing it to swing freely for optimal visibility. For best results, use two reflectors on each side to ensure visibility from both directions. Avoid storing the discs in direct sunlight.
Made in Norway. EU-approved by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, 0403.
